Multiple mental health issues known as depression are characterized by a lack of optimism, which causes negative emotions like misery, sadness, and anxiety. When someone experiences feelings of being lost, angry, frustrated, and depressed repeatedly, it becomes a serious condition. Such feelings are only normal if they last for a brief period of time. Antidepressants are used to treat a variety of mental health issues, such as major depressive disorder, anxiety, and depression. Dopamine and serotonin are examples of neurotransmitters that exist in the brain in chemical form and are in charge of regulating emotions, including mood and behaviour. There are many different types of antidepressants, such as tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs), monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) (SRMs). Once taken, Depression Drugs exhibit various pharmacological effects in the brain that help restore the chemical equilibrium in the brain lost due to behavioural disorders like depression. Various Types of Depression Drugs are- Antidepressants (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs), Serotonin Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitor (SNRIs), Serotonin Modulators, Tricyclic & Tetracyclic Antidepressants, Atypical Antidepressants), Antipsychotics, Others (CNS Stimulants, Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors) Clinical trials are significantly impacted by COVID-19. The effects include social estrangement, difficulty recruiting participants for clinical trials not involving COVID-19, participants' reluctance to visit clinical sites due to concerns about COVID-19 infections, and trial staff's decision to work remotely. New guidelines were released by the U.S. FDA to be followed while the pandemic is still going on. Clinical trial protocol changes, support for logistics and supply chain management, adoption of remote data review, clinical site monitoring, and provision of additional site support services are examples of mitigation strategies to guarantee the continuity of clinical trials. The side effects of Depression Drugs are also anticipated to have a negative impact on the growth to some extent, as patients are hesitant to use medication therapy out of fear and ignorance of the process. For instance, the U.S. FDA asked the makers of Prozac and all antidepressants to include a black box warning on the product in 2004, which had an impact on the medication's rate of prescription. The warning indicated a risk of suicidal tendency in children and teenagers.
